why i wonder have i never invested in a table where my kids feet actually touch the floor..... in my serious commitment to home school Luke and Rae, clearly since you know 2 year olds must go to pre-school... we found the perfect espresso carolina craft table at the pbk in the mall today... and well since Noah fit at it too... I grabbed 4 chairs hoping (and to extensively justify the purchase while being the fair mommy) the big boys will use this as a homework table..... I love collective learning.... we almost got the floor sample at a whopping 30% off... but some lucky family had swiped it before us.... i also decided the purchase solidified my efforts due to the fact that if one more mommy friend here asks me where my babies are going to pre-school i'm going to choke on my inability to come up with an explanation on why I feel that pre-school aged children should be spared the institutions that we call school..... when in actuality, selfishly i love these babies too much to have these precious years taken from me..... and well the last fabulous curriculum i found was a montessori school located in a very elite area and the price tag was hefty....and there are no such thing as half days..... it was too much in too many ways.... plus there were no openings with a long waiting list.... however i think this was something said to all applicants as they sized you up with personal questions on your child rearing philosophies as they clicked your info into a big plain black binder..... but with no appointment the director gave me the grand tour and a week later by phone extended Luke a full time invitation.... i'm not sure if someone else pulled out or if we made a rare connection...... either way i pleasantly declined and did not offer any information 0n my second rate plan to her, because in my mind it was the only way.....and working so closely last year with the best kindergarten teacher ever, Ann how can i fail? .... but as i would soon learn... pre-school around here is like the pipeline to Harvard... my neighbor couldn't hide her horrified shock that my tiny tots have not been placed in schools..... won't their jaws drop when these people find out my newly four year old not only reads, writes, well he can recite math sequences...... and not simple ones.... i'm pretty sure he'll be o.k. for the institution of a 3 hour kindergarten program in another full year...and i'll stand my ground confident when we face the inevitable inquisition... "and where luke did you go to pre-school? ..... shock, disappointment, burden, all in one moments glance when he replies, "what? i didn't".....hang in there you home school mamas... this is only the beginning and i'm only at the pre-k levels... really thinking about all the elementary parents.....praying for you all......we enroll the boys tomorrow at their elementary school and i'm praying that the peace i've experienced in the past filters through our entire meeting at the campus tomorrow so that my kids can join the ranks on Sept 2...... they are looking forward to school starting after a really fun and exciting trip to the mall to find the "back to school" sneakers..... it was the first year i actually told the sales girl (totally fantastic woman) here is (fill in the blank), we haven't worn sneakers in 3 full months, i don't care what they choose, whatever makes them happy, after all they have to wear them.... and as i suspected the years of tutoring the boys in shopping has finally paid off...each pair of shoes fit their personality, style and level of comfort...i couldn't have been more proud! ....well Rachel did sneak in a pair of tye-dyed looking sketcher crocs with heart decals and the way she clutched them so close to her heart how could i deny her style choice... she even laid them next to her gymnastics leotard tonight singing a few la la la's....apparently anticipating slipping her tiny size 6 feet into them....ahh my little cinderella.....
