drama

whoever came up with the saying boys are less drama than girls clearly didn't have a clue what they were talking about... we have endured the longest day of drama since i can remember.... maybe even as far back as liz locking our cordless shared phone in her bedroom as i contemplated firefighting the door down with my bare hands.... so sorry mom... not a clue who i wanted to call but i remember the bitter anger to this day at her..... my boys were allowed to keep one kitty.... just one.... per dad..... sounds great easy exciting right????? well maybe if they had all attached to the same one..... and noah the oldest, ever the politician, quickly lobbied luke to his side, rae well who was asking her opinion??? zach, the ultimate philanthropist, stood his ground that he didn't want them separated so send them both back to the original owner even though he loved the black one..... always the small sacrfice for a greater reward..... luke truly loved the black one too, but he wouldn't waiver his vocal support of noah, and when noah rallies the troops he seems to get a unanimous vote even when there isn't one....... so about 2 hours to deadline the kids somehow agree we are keeping the white one..... the only outward protest was rae, who turned her nose up at holding the white one and ran off to grab her fluffy black companion.... and well her opinion sadly mattered well none at all..... so everything was ready for the black kitty to make his journey home in a little crate softened only by a piece of furry pink fabric....and rae kissed him goodbye and luke pawed at him through the little metal door...... zach said his goodbyes and we all left the room..... a few minutes later we hear crying and not soft crying... loud heart wrenching crying..... we run in to find zach so distraught he can barely tell us what is wrong..... now we find noah is crying because he doesn't want my mom and dad to leave, they are scheduled to leave this evening and now i'm crying because my boys are so upset all over again about the move, it's so boring here, we have no friends, on and on.... grandma and papa don't leave, we miss you so much, can we go with you...... rae starts climbing in their car..... sorry sis not this time...... as it would happen, it turns out zach wasn't doing well letting his newly bonded furry friend go...... easier said than done.... especially with big brother convincing you that his choice is best.... so the owner finally drive away with zach saying he'd be alright without the other cat and that it would be too much work anyway....... which we barely understood though his hands covering his sopping wet tear streaked face.......and with a heavy heart and his 6 year old sobbing in his arms my husband caved....o.k. you can keep them both... zach if you want your cat we can still get him.... there's still time if we act quick..... the car had rounded the culdesac.....like a lion pouncing toward it's prey in order to feed it's hungry cubs, i jumped in front of the car wildly waving my arms (determined to make my children all happy) and begged the owner to surrender the treasure.... being a mom herself she couldn't bear to see my babies cry so she reluctantly handed over the licorice colored kitty with copper eyes and enough fur to make a rug...... zach took that carrier up the stairs and safely into the house talking non stop to his newly secured friend..... it was a moment of relief and the end of an almost tragedy, in the life of a boy who has two other times been talked out of what he really wanted..... the third time is a charm and he is learning from his childhood mistakes.... speak now or forever hold your peace.....
