sharpened pencils

first day of school is finally here.... and 6 am this morning came way too fast.... it's oddly unsettling to me how much i looked forward to this day... it goes against all my personal beliefs as a mother to place my children in the care of someone else in such an institutional type setting... still the fact remains that it brings me peace in some strange way that i'm legally required to have them there once i sign by the x on the enrollment form.... so off my kiddos went... all lugged down with new and carefully selected backpacks, they braved the new campus....zach was ever so silent with his blond hair curling up over his ears as his eyes glared only at the black pavement beneath him and noah well i'm sure everyone in the valley could hear his teeth chattering despite the 80 degree weather.... i reassured him 'buddy it's just 20 kids and a teacher you've done this before and it's going to be great' i think i was reassuring myself as well....we were there until the teachers said ok parents this is the end of the road for you, the lines at the edge of the blacktop just outside the doors..... say goodbye and well see you after school.... i have yet to do some soul searching on this one.... especially after i looked up at the clock and by 9:30 we had finished all of luke's morning lessons and we were off to gymnastics.... rae's only protest to the days events was an unscheduled nap around 10.... which i was secretly hoping for being that she's still recuperating from her unknown bacterial infection, diagnosed on her second visit in after her fever shot to 103.9 whose source remains anonymous.... after all the sun was not up when we all were and she's not that pleasant at the moment.... school starts at 745 around here so apparently i've joined a colony of early risers... but hey it's not about me....sacrifice for these kids....ha ha.... and the way our school is set up on a hilltop the parking is scarce to none and with over 800 kids well we have to get an early start.... i'm so excited to see how the boys did ... less than an hour until pick up and i'm counting the seconds...oh and zach lost his front tooth...yeah i've been waiting for this day since Dr. L gave him those false porcelain veneers at 16 months!!!!!....only one more to go and it's hanging there pretty loosely....
