tradition

dinner in the park is becoming this fabulous tradition... it overlooks the ocean and we can then take an excursion down to the water... a couple of nights its been warm enough to stay until the sun sets...plus its just one more excuse to not unpack all of the boxes left lying around...it's very bizarre how when things are packed away all of the sudden they don't seem as important as they were before they went "missing". The cord to plug in my elliptical is still MIA so i've been using it without the power...i never even knew it was possible but there are just so many friends episodes id love to catch up on so the machine will have to go powerless for now...this feels like the longest vacation ever...i wonder if years from now i will look back on this summer and remember it as one of the best...when all of the new traditions seeped in...when we decided to make the big move i felt like the chapters in my life were all closing and four weeks ago when I left the valley with my suburban packed down with the scattered suitcases we'd been living out of for two weeks, four kids, two dogs (who's natural dog smell left Zach in a giant 3 HOUR huff), two cats (meowing in protest to the drive or perhaps the massive hair shaving they'd just endured at VIP grooming), oh and a tiny scared rabbit in a little pink crate underneath a very large oil painting the movers forgot, that I wasn't leaving behind (irrational?, which part!), I had to make a call (thank you Shannon) to distract myself from the emotional mountain building inside my chest desperately wanting to explode in the form of uncontrollable sobs (don't cry in front of the kids.....keep the departure as calm as possible...if i'm calm they'll be calm...). Finally this awakening occurred after i hung up BETI(my phone) that the chapters in my life were not coming to this abrupt end... the introduction was coming to a conclusion and that chapter 1 was open for the adventurous taking...
