'i don't really think that goes' was the only comment that actually surfaced as jess eyed my recent wall addition above my computer desk. i innocently replied, "what the poster? why it doesn't fit with the eclectic mess that is this room? he laughed. so generously, i offered a deal, 'if you actually read the book and don't like it, i'll take it down.' he looked at my fictional characters and said, 'no its fine it doesn't bother me.' and then he looked again at it wondering what... he didn't tell me...probably something about how ridiculous i was. and that was pretty much it. he's not one to ever dwell on my style or fashion choices especially inside the house... so one down one to go.... we were having coffee and i nervously approached the subject of my recent invitation for a road trip. yes road trip. road trip and i do not exactly blend fluently in one sentence. i dislike, no loathe is a better word sitting in a car counting the incessant minutes to arrival at a destination. call it the goal oriented person in me. don't worry sometimes i pull back and enjoy the journey... however never in the car, on a road trip. so i was prepared for the mockery, laughter lots of laughter at first... 'um.... you... going.... where?' utter disbelief. 'do you know how far that is?' by that time i was laughing so hard i could barely hold my coffee cup upright. then he started in on the whole 'you are such an i don't camp kind of girl...are you going to rent an rv or something for the drive? is that why you are acting all nervous bringing this up? you seem like you are embarrassed or something... i mean that's like 22 hours in a car....' when he finally stopped talking and making fun of me i asked, 'soo... is that a firm no?' he noticed then that i might be serious. finally, 'i don't care'. some friends came up with this idea to trip to oregon to see the locations of the filming of new moon... and past locations of twilight and with so many well connected people we think we can pull it off with some sense of good timing. we shall see. all i know is i have my kitchen pass, and i don't care what else goes in the suitcase... my camera is all i need well that and the endless possibilities of crazy photographs, nostalgia, and lure to this dimension, a town i've been imagining in my mind for weeks.... the restaurant on first street... just the idea of walking around thinking of stepping into the pages of those books.
